For referring clinicians

Send us patients who needs a primary care doctor who will actually listen — and has enough time to do it. That's our practice.

Storied Medicine is direct primary care in Leschi, South Seattle. No insurance billing, no coding, no fifteen-minute visits. Dr. Owen Kendall, MD, MPH keeps a small panel so that visits run as long as they need to, and patients can reach him directly between visits.

Good fits for us

  • Patients 5-18 who need affirming general practice care and care coordination, anyone who has been rushed, dismissed, or fragmented — complex histories, multiple conditions, long problem lists

  • Patients, 18 and over, who need gender-affirming care and hormone therapy

  • Patients needingHIV prevention (PrEP) and HIV care

  • Patients who need same-week access and real continuity

  • Patients in South Seattle and South King County: Columbia City, Rainier Valley, Beacon Hill, Central District, Leschi, Madrona, and south to Renton, Kent, and Auburn

Medicare

We are not currently accepting Medicare patients while the practice is growing — but we expect that to change, and we keep a Medicare waitlist. If you have a patient on Medicare who needs what we offer, send them anyway. We'll take their information and call them the moment we can take them on.

What it costs your patient

$150 a month for adults for our first 100 patients. $100 a month for pediatrics (5-17 years old). No copays, no surprise bills, no insurance billing at all. Cancel anytime.

Members keep their own insurance for anything outside the practice — labs, imaging, specialists, hospital care. The membership covers primary care itself. We charge $5 to draw labs and have detailed pricing for labs and materials here.

What we don't do

  • Obstetrics - Unfortunately, I no longer do prenatal care, though I can support mental health around pregnancy and pregnancy planning

  • Ultrasound-guided injections - if do a lot of sports medicine but don’t do US-guided injections into hands, feet, ankles, or backs. 

  • Urgent care - we work hard to keep our patients out of urgent care by doing laceration repairs emergently and immediate evaluation to see if patients need to be in an urgent care or emergency department but if someone really needs more emergent care, send them to an emergency department

  • Counseling - We do not provide mental health therapy but I have extensive experience with complex medication management for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD.

  • Pediatric hormone therapy - We don’t provide hormone therapy for people under 18. We can provide primary care in a supportive environment and help to coordinate care gender affirming care for them..

Warm handoffs welcome. If the patient's story is complicated, call and tell it to us first. That's the whole point of a small panel.

About Dr. Kendall

Owen Kendall, MD, MPH, MFA. ABFM Board certified in Family medicine. Owen graduated from Boston University Medical School and the Boston University School of Medicine with a dual MD, MPH degree before training at the Group Health Cooperative/Kaiser Permanente Washington Family Medicine Residency from 2015-2018. He worked as a Family Medicine provider at Kaiser Permanente in Kent, WA.  At the Kent clinic, he was the dermatology champion, gender health champion, LGBTQIA+ champion, HIV champion, sports medicine champion, and addiction medicine champion (he likes wearing hats).   During the 7.5 years he worked at the Kent Kaiser Permanente clinic he cared for complex patients with humanity and skill that earned him respect from peers throughout the region.  He started Storied Medicine to have the chance to spend more time with his patients and deliver exceptional care at a human pace with his growing family.
